Studying in the South Island of New Zealand means you can learn new skills, make new friends, develop new interests, and prepare for a stable and successful life in future.

New friends, new feelings

Studying in New Zealand’s high schools will bring you a new experience.

Our local students respect different cultures, and some of them may have the same cultural background as you, which will help you adapt to life here more quickly.

You can come across different cultures everywhere. You will not always communicate with your classmates and classmates of the same grade. Because of the choice of courses and fixed classrooms, you have the opportunity to communicate with students of different grades or cultural backgrounds every day.

The daily life of middle school students

In Year 11 or 12, you will have:

• 4-5 classes, 50-60 minutes each

• A short break in the morning

• A longer lunch break at noon

Each secondary school student will have his or her own schedule, depending on the course and the class time.

At lunchtime, students usually:

• Communicate with friends

• Meet the teacher to ask questions

• Study themselves or seek help from the seniors

• Participate in sports

At lunch breaks or after school, you can attend:

• Sports, music activities or other groups according to your interests

• Homework club

• Tutoring class

• English improvement courses

Sometimes, the school will arrange activities throughout the day, where you can:

• Learn about different careers

• Plan for your future higher education

• Improve your health and safety

Exclusive time for self-study

Senior students are usually given “self-study time." There are no courses scheduled at the time of self-study, so you can study in the following places:

• Study room

• Library

• Computer room

Your host family will provide a quiet and comfortable learning environment at home. Junior students usually need about an hour to do homework every night and about three to four hours to study on weekends. Seniors typically need about two hours of homework a night and about five hours of study on weekends.

School facilities designed for learning

Our school uses a flexible space design to adapt to each student's different learning styles, making students more interested in learning, boosting their creativity and efficiency. It includes:

• Independent learning space

• Group study space

• Space for various instruments

• Space for different activities

• Space for social interactions

Make friends, share culture

Students and teachers in New Zealand are very friendly and it is not difficult to make friends at the end of a school club or course. We welcome you to participate and to share your culture with us.

We encourage students to participate in the following school clubs such as:

• Dancing

• Performance

• Travelling

• Camping

• Music

• Sports

• Choir

High school students’ life in New Zealand is not just restricted to studying.

While completing your studies successfully, you will still enjoy the colorful activities both inside and outside the school.
